Charity Queen raises $55,858 for Rural Fire Brigade
Krystal Wright was thrilled to be the Zonta Mount Isa Charity Queen.

Zonta Rodeo Charity Queen Krystal Wright says the struggle of morning sickness was wiped away on Saturday when she was crowned at the gala ball.
She raised a massive $55,858 for the Mount Isa Rural Fire Brigade, while the five entrants combined to raise $211,700 for their respective charities and non-profits.
“I just knew when I signed up that I wanted to raise as much money as I could,” Krystal told North West Weekly.
“I’ve had my family and my friends by my side. There’s been good days, there’s been bad days, but to find out that we (raised the most) ... it was all worth it in the end.
“It was really fulfilling.”
Krystal said she chose the Mount Isa Rural Fire Brigade as her charity after watching the brave men and women in action over the years.
“Not last year, but the year before, I helped my brother out with Apex when all the fires were surrounding Mount Isa and we were doing a sausage sizzle for the rural fireys,” she recalled.
“So I thought, that’s who I want to do it for, especially because they’re all volunteers.”
Krystal, who will juggle her duties at this weekend’s Mount Isa Mines Rodeo with her baby shower, said she couldn’t have done it without the support of her family and partner Mick.
“Honestly, it was really hard, because the morning sickness was really bad,” she said.
“I was living off anti-nausea tablets, even though I felt like they weren’t even working at all.
“But my family really encouraged me. I think it was their support that got me through.”
Krystal congratulated her good friend Chloe Kalbfell for being crowned the Zonta Mount Isa Rodeo Queen for 2025, as well as the other three entrants.
“I thought we were all winners,” she said.
