Cocktail event to spice up Mount Isa Rodeo
A new social gathering will be staged at Buchanan Park during the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo.

Country glamour is set to hit the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo next month, with two local graziers bringing a new cocktail brunch to the iconic event.
The inaugural Cowgirls in the Capital cocktail brunch event will debut on August 9, giving Outback women an opportunity to dress up and network at Buchanan Park’s new Cattleman’s Bar.
The event was created and sponsored by Mount Isa Rodeo committee board member Hannah Hacon, from Glendara Station, and Shelley Curr, from Yelvertoft Station.
“Shelley originally came to me with the idea to host a cowgirl brunch,” said Ms Hacon, who is also the owner of Worn Out West in Mount Isa.
“She thought it would be a great excuse to frock up and get all the girls together during rodeo time.
“At the same time, I was sketching ideas for the new Cattleman’s Bar, so we joined forces and Cowgirls in the Capital was born.
“The brunch, the bar ... it all came together through a shared vision, and a love of Isa Rodeo!
“The truth is, we don’t often get the opportunity to really doll ourselves up and wear something fabulous with a rodeo and western twist.
“So, we thought, let’s create an event to do exactly that. A chance to connect with other incredible women and raise a glass to everything that makes Isa Rodeo so special.”
The event promises a blend of cocktails, country music, and community pride.
Guests will enjoy two complimentary cocktails to get the party started, individual canapé boxes packed with gourmet bites, live entertainment by Chelsea Woodard, and the best view of the rodeo action.
Tickets are just $25 per person (rodeo gate entry not included) – but this boutique brunch has limited capacity.
