Mount Isa and the North West will be the official launching pad of Tom Curtain’s latest tour, with animals, live music and a message of kindness to head up the shows.

“Basically, we've packed up about 10 horses, four goats and 10 working dogs and a few musicians. We’re going to do a one-hour 15-minute Outback show, very kid friendly, and then pop up and do a concert as well,” Curtain told North West Weekly ahead of his tour launch in Mount Isa this Friday night.

“It’s really a lot of fun. You don't really know what's going to happen from show to show.”
A Golden Guitar winner, Curtain’s Here’s To You 10th Anniversary Tour celebrates a decade of bringing his award-winning Katherine Outback Experience to communities around Australia.

The tour showcases real horse training and working dog demonstrations, entwined with humorous bush tales followed by two hours of live music, with songs from Curtain’s chart-topping album Here’s To You and performances by fellow artists Laura Frank, Chris Matthews, Nick Morrissey, and Melanie Gray.

The tour includes horses, working dogs, goats, and Pumpkin the pony, as they travel through Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

“One bloke told me that wasn’t just a show about training horses or dogs, it was a show about understanding animals and our own humanity and that’s exactly what we try to share,” Curtain said.

The tour also builds on Curtain’s long-standing partnership with Dolly’s Dream, which focuses on bullying prevention, online safety, and mental well-being.

Curtain regularly visits schools to perform his song Speak Up, written in Amy ‘Dolly’ Everett’s memory, and to encourage students to be kind and stand up for others.

He is also releasing his first children’s book in time for Christmas, inspired by the animals of Katherine Outback Experience, with a percentage of proceeds being donated to Dolly’s Dream.

“When we visit schools, I sing songs, share stories and get kids involved. It's about showing them it’s okay to step outside your comfort zone and to look out for each other,” Curtain said.

“The book carries that same message in a fun way, using our animals as characters.”

Over the past decade, the Katherine Outback Experience has grown from a small act with just one horse, two dogs and a swag into a large-scale production beloved by families, often bringing three or four generations together on the dance floor.

“Some of the most rewarding moments are when people come up after a show with tears in their eyes, thanking us for bringing joy to their town,” Curtain said.

“It’s more than entertainment, it’s about giving people a night out, a reason to reconnect, and a reminder that they’re not alone.”
