After a setback to start his riding tenure in the North West, Nor Yadi’s patience was rewarded with a winning double at Mount Isa on Saturday afternoon.

Yadi, who made his comeback from a broken ankle with one ride and one win at McKinlay the week prior, continued his golden run for trainer Denise Ballard, scoring aboard Eye Shoot To Win in a thrilling finish.

He then backed up with victory in the Open Plate (1200m) aboard Casino Lord for Emma Morton, which also gave the Mount Isa trainer a winning double.

Jay Morris kicked off the day with a win with Super Story, ridden by Tom Orr for an elated owner Steve Clauson.

He led all of the way before kicking away to score by around four lengths.

The other winner on the day was Julia Creek trainer Kerry Krogh, who saluted in the Maiden Plate with new arrival Tengun Annie, ridden by David Sparks.

It was a good day out for Krogh, who also had a couple of placings.

Racing in the region heads to Winton this Saturday, before a TAB meeting at Buchanan Park on Monday, July 14.
