Richmond is calling on the community to come together for the inaugural Richmond Regional Community and Jobs Expo to support workforce development and showcase career pathways.

The free event will run from 10am to 3.30pm this Saturday at the Richmond Racecourse, with a roping competition to follow from 3.30pm.

It will bring together local businesses, industry representatives, and government agencies to highlight employment opportunities, skills, and training.

Mayor John Wharton said the event was a proud moment for Richmond and the surrounding communities.

“Richmond has always been a strong and proud community, and this expo is about taking that spirit and turning it into opportunity,” he said.

“This is a unique chance for our young people to gain a clearer understanding of post-school pathways while helping jobseekers connect directly with industry.

“It will also highlight the important work of agencies that play such a critical role in regional Queensland.

“We are proud to deliver an event that supports our workforce, fosters connections, and showcases Richmond as a community committed to building opportunity for the future.”

Senior Constable Braden Daly said the expo would deliver benefits for both the community and frontline services.

“The expo is about more than jobs, it is about building stronger relationships between industry, services, and families in our region,” Senior Constable Daly said.

“By engaging face-to-face, we can demonstrate the variety of policing roles, from the Dog Squad to Rural and Stock Crime, while also reinforcing the contribution all frontline agencies make in keeping regional communities safe.

“This is an opportunity to inspire the next generation, strengthen inter-agency visibility, and ensure young people can see what a career in public service might look like.”

The expo program will include:

• Queensland Fire and Ambulance demonstrations

• Queensland Police Dog Squad, POLAIR, and Rural & Stock Crime Squad displays

• Australian Defence Force careers information

• Local business and employer stalls

• Interactive skills and industry showcases

Entry is free, and all residents across the Flinders Highway and surrounding regions are encouraged to attend.
