The Wranglers could be the team to beat in this year’s Mount Isa Rugby League A-grade women’s final series after they put paid to Cloncurry on Saturday.

Boasting a spread of talent in both the forwards and backs, the Wranglers led from start to finish in the 28-4 win.

Hannah Clarke bagged a couple of tries as the Col Ryder-coached side showed its class.

With one match remaining in the regular season, the ladder positions are locked in, with Cloncurry to finish third and Wranglers just behind leaders City Country.

It means that this Saturday’s match between the Curry and City Country is effectively a dead rubber, although will be used to improve match fitness.

It’s a different story in the men’s competition, with Brothers able to wrest top spot off Townies in the final match of the A-grade season.

Both teams are deadlocked in a tie for first position, although Town has a superior points differential.

However, should Brothers beat the Lions on Saturday night, they would secure a grand final berth.

In somewhat of a fizzer, teams won’t be at full strength due to Outback Queensland selection.

Town coach John Doyle is also the coach of the Outback men’s team and will be in Kingaroy this weekend.

Brothers gave themselves a chance to win the minor premiership with a thrilling 36-30 win over Wanderers on Saturday night.

Latrae Walden and the Aplins were the standouts for Brothers.

Wanderers will now finish third, but are guaranteed a crack at the grand final.
