Mount Isa boxers perform strongly in Yarrabah bouts
The Brothers in Arms team had good results in the coastal community.

Brothers in Arms Boxing Club coach Bob Burow says he’s proud of the performances of five boxers who recently represented Mount Isa in a Yarrabah event.
“They held a tournament as part of NAIDOC Week and because they came to our fight night, it was important that we supported them,” said Burow, a long-time boxing coach who has close ties in the sport across Queensland.
“Boxing is a big community and we know that in North Queensland you have to travel long distances to put a fight on, so we all try and do our bit to help each other.”
Burow said the highlight of the Yarrabah event was the performance of Taiarn Yasserie (62kg) who run a first-round knockout against Sanraj Grewal (65kg) from Babinda.
“I think he’s on a seven-fight win streak at the moment,” Burow said of the talented 16-year-old.
“He fought a former Queensland title holder and I think the fight was over in about 60 seconds after he landed a great body shot.
“It’s getting harder and harder to get him fights now because he’s gone to another level.”
Another highlight for Burow was watching his 10-year-old grandson Kody Scott (29kg) step into the ring against Yarrabah local Donald Palmer, who was a year old and eight kilograms heavier.
“He lost in a decision but it was great to see him give it a red hot go,” Burow said.
Meanwhile, Nilz Bennett (42kg) won a points decision against Saxon Sollars (46kg) from Townsville.
Barling Tokawa (65kg) also had a win, beating Charles Andrew’s (63kg) from Yarrabah in a second round TKO.
Rashard Radcliffe (52kg) lost a split points decision against Kyden Mossman (52kg) from Yarrabah.
Brothers in Arms will host its next fight night on September 26.
