Mount Isa fight night unites Radcliffe family
More than 20 family members bought tickets at the gate and they also booked a ringside table.

If there was ever more proof needed that Mount Isa audiences want more fight nights, then look to the Radcliffe family.
The Mount Isa mob turned out in force on Sunday to cheer on 14 year old Rashard who was competing in only his second bout.
More than 20 family members bought tickets at the gate and they also had booked a ringside table to be front and centre for the big event. When Rashard stepped into the ring you might have thought it was for the world title belt given the volume and enthusiasm from their corner.
The family absorbed every blow alongside Rashard and countered every cross with a loud and never ceasing roar of approval for every second of the three rounds.
In a split decision, Rashard was unlucky to not walk away with the win.
He said he hoped to be able to fight in front of his family in the future.
“I knew where all my family were cause they were the only thing I could hear when I came in,” Rashard told North West Weekly.
“I went to my first fight in Babinda and it was only me and one other family member so there weren’t really any cheers.
“But this time all I could hear was my family when I was fighting.”
Rashard’s uncle Raymond said he had competed in more than a dozen boxing and MMA bouts when he was younger and believed it made a big difference when competing in front of a hometown crowd.
“When you live out here, you have to be the one to always travel to have a fight so it makes it very special when you get to fight with people in your corner,” he said.
“We all wanted to be here for Rashard tonight and we are all really proud of him.”
