North West-inspired podcast makes its debut
Aussie comedians Dave O’Neil and Brad Oakes have launched their true crime/comedy podcast.

Did you know the Mount Isa water slide was stolen by pirates in the Suez Canal?
Or that crocodiles chased after an unsuspecting aqua aerobics class at Splashez Aquatic Centre?
Or that more people than you might expect think that Mount Isa Mines looks like a cruise liner at night?
These are just some of the insights you can glean from Slippery Slope, the aptly-named podcast from Aussie comedians Dave O’Neil and Brad Oakes.
O’Neil was in Mount Isa and Cloncurry earlier this year to record interviews with a range of locals, including former Mount Isa mayor Danielle Slade, current Cloncurry mayor Greg Campbell and Splashez centre manager Shae Donovan.
The four-part comedy/true crime series focuses on the high seas hijacking of a freight ship that was carrying Mount Isa’s then-planned water slide between Turkey and Australia.
The first episode was released last week, with one episode released each Wednesday.
The Slippery Slope series can be found on Spotify and most podcast providers.
