Year 10 students from Good Shepherd Catholic College recently embarked on an enriching educational trip to Townsville, offering them valuable insights into potential future pathways.

The multi-day excursion provided students with a diverse range of experiences aimed at inspiring and informing their academic and career choices.

A highlight for many was a tour of the Cowboys’ elite training facility, offering a glimpse into the world of professional sport and the dedication required for high-performance careers.

Academic exploration was also a key component of the trip.

Students participated in guided campus tours of both James Cook University and Central Queensland University, gaining an understanding of university life and the various courses on offer.

The visit culminated with attendance at the JCU Open Day, where students had the opportunity to delve deeper into specific study areas, engage directly with current university students and staff, and immerse themselves in the vibrant campus atmosphere.

“Our students were a credit to the school – well-behaved, enthusiastic, and engaged every step of the way,” said careers officer Liesel Armstrong.
