Julia Creek trainer Tanya Parry landed yet another treble at last week’s Mount Isa Race Club Mailman Express meeting, continuing her great form at TAB programs.

Signs pointed to a big day when Chargrill broke his maiden status after 33 attempts, winning at big odds for apprentice Nick Palmer.

Last Ditch Effort then produced the goods in the Class 3 Plate over 1000m for Brooke Stower.

In his second start for the stable, the six-year-old took improvement from his first run on the sand and romped to a three-length victory.

Odds-on favourite Affirmative Light then capped off a good day for Parry, giving Stower a double.

Barcaldine trainer Bevan Johnson celebrated a double with Regal Judgement and Takeru, but his best performer may have been Han Dynasty in the Open Handicap over 1200m.

The veteran had to give the Jay Morris-trained Revolt 10.5kg and still managed to get within four lengths and beat every other horse in the field.

A big decision is now in the hands of Morris and the Saunders family in regards to Revolt.

Clearly one of the better racing prospects seen in the region for some time, the four-year-old gelding is almost eligible for next year’s Battle of the Bush, having raced four times in the country.

Another option is the Magic Millions Country Cup (1200m), which boasts a purse of $500,000.

In the short-term, Revolt could end up in the major sprint at Birdsville next month, which has $24,000 on offer to the winner.

Meanwhile, Denise Ballard was full of joy after Panda Drum broke his string of bad form at his home track with a barnstorming win in the Class 6 Plate (1450m).

Rising star Maddie Mankelow sat back and wide to avoid the sand blasting in Panda Drum’s face and managed to come over the top of her rivals to win at a huge price.

Racing in the North West will be staged at Richmond on Saturday.
