Reigning premiers Buffaloes are into the AFL Mount Isa grand final after a resounding win over Lake Nash in Saturday’s major semi-final at Legend Oval.

After a low-scoring first quarter, which saw the Buffs lead 1.7 to 0.0 after some wayward kicking, the favourites went on to win by 51 points over the Bulldogs.

The final score read 11.13 (79) to 4.4 (28).

Earlier, the Tigers were eliminated from the race by the Dajarra Rhinos, who notched a 41-point win in the minor semi-final.

The Rhinos kicked 14.10 (94) to the Tigers’ 8.5 (53).

With a bye this weekend due to the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo, play will resume on August 16 with a preliminary final between the Lake Nash Bulldogs and Rhinos.

The winner will meet the Buffs in the AFL Mount Isa grand final on Saturday, August 23.
